Industry organizations have recommended that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) select one digital radio technology for India's digital radio implementation, proposing Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) and HD Radio as potential choices.

The AROI recommended a singular digital technology for FM broadcasting in their TRAI submissions, emphasizing the advantages in terms of cost efficiency.

The organization recommended for All India Radio to individually evaluate DRM and HD Radio for MW and SW bands, which are within its specific responsibility. It was also suggested that analogue transmission should continue until over 80% of the population has adopted digital receivers to guarantee accessibility.

The India Cellular and Electronics Association suggested a gradual implementation of HD Radio, pointing out its ability to work with different gadgets like cars, Bluetooth speakers, and mobile phones.

In the meantime, FICCI pointed out the successful implementation of HD Radio in the US, Canada, and Mexico and mentioned that having a unified standard could lower expenses and enhance the availability of receivers. It was also recommended that adopting a standardized approach could assist manufacturing companies in achieving economies of scale, reducing recipient expenses, and expediting digital implementation.

Furthermore, industry associations have asked for assistance for current broadcasters as they move to digital broadcasting. The AROI is advocating for those holding 800 MHz frequency allocations to be allowed to continue using them for digital broadcasts.
